When I was a kid there was a pool room in every town, sometimes 2, and pubs had several tables. Full sized tables were fewer but a commercial billiards room every few train stops and in most RSL clubs.

But not today. Pool rooms have gone and the clubs have replaced tables with poker machines.

Is it no longer viable to run a pool room as a business?

I recall a time when there were 4 commercial billiard rooms in the same block in Sydney. That was more than 20 years ago. Any idea if they are still there now?

Yeah, I remember that. If the tables were busy just walk up the road. In our town we had 3 pool rooms in the same street.
