ASSA Management
The ASSA is an incorporated association managed by President, Treasurer, Secretary and committee members serving as state delegates. As such the ASSA is governed by a Constitution and By-Laws.
Members
Membership is limited to those who are suitable to either join the management team, serve as committee member or state co-ordinator, or otherwise volunteer to aid and assist with the promotion and organisation of our events.
Associated Players
Anyone over 60 years old is eligible to join as an Associate. Players registering with ASSA will be notified of events and also be able to join discussions in our forum.
Although ASSA is for Australian seniors, associate membership is also available to those outside of Australia for the promotion of senior events in worldwide.
ASSA Constitution
The ASSA Constitution is basically standard for organisations incorporated in Queensland with the exception that new members are required to be 60 years old or more.
ASSA By-Laws
The ASSA By-Laws define membership and associate status, tournaments rules and the responsibilities of state delegates.

Due to changes to our event format, namely that we now only host an Over 60s tournament as our "State Seniors Championship", we now require that new members to be at least 60 years old.
Existing members who joined or played as Over 50s are still welcome to participate in our forum, and most welcome to volunteer their help at our events. |

At our recent AGM, a new Constitution was approved and changes to our event format also voted, with all members in favour of the changes.
As a matter of interest, questions were asked about "residency". As we are encouraging all states to get on board with State Seniors Championships and hopefully an Australian Seniors Championship, a motion was put forward to make our state events "open" in that interstate players are eligible to enter, enabling the far north NSW players to cross border as they do in QBSA events.
Unfortunately the majority voted against it. To play in ASSA state championships, the player still needs to be a resident of that state. |
