Letting players know that there is a tournament on and where is a big part of event organisation. Getting the numbers is the biggest hurdle. Today that is much easier with internet, e-mail and Facebook but even then you can only invite known players. Getting new players can come from word of mouth but having a club forum or an event calendar that faces the public is most advantageous.
Once you have the players not much can go wrong.

Unless you are there to be social its nice to have a time schedule so there is no sitting around getting bored. I see that the top players always arrive just in time to play and leave straight after.

ASSA tournament draws with start times can always be found here on the ASSA website... /results.asp
ASSA does not use any of the third party draw sheet services for the simple reason that if anyone wants to find a draw and what time they are playing, remembering that assa.asn.au has it all is a lot easier to remember than trying find a needle in a haystack on one of the many third party services.
