 The differences in terminology can be frustrating

Not only are there so many different types of cuesport games, but the terminology around the globe is completely different. For example in USA they call:

A cushion is a rail.

A snookered ball is frozen, whether the object ball is hidden or the cue ball is on the rail.

A table clearance is a run out.

Right-hand side is right english.

A double is a bank.

Best of 17 is a race to 9.

Very different rules also I hear. In snooker doubles, players are not permitted to converse while one is at the table. Yet in USA pool team play, even a non-player like a coach, can not only interrupt play with advice, but he can place chalk on the table as marker.
