Sponsors are most welcome and advertising is permitted at ASSA events.
Branding
The term "banding" refers to the inclusion of the sponsors name in the event title. However branding is not possible for ASSA events which are "state championships" and should always be seen as such, for example:
The 2023 Queensland Over 50s Championship
However it is permissible to include a sponsors name like:
The 2023 Queensland Over 50s Championship sponsored by XYZ
Our reasoning for this is that renaming the event confuses its significance and its history. For example, the Queensland Open is a state championship but is now known as its sponsor's name. Now while that sponsor has generously provided the prize money to enable that event to be nationally ranked, no-one sees it as a state championship. The records for this event will show as a state championship prior to when sponsorship started, and then be seen as a different event until sponsorship ends... how is that good for history?
Sponsorship
All funds received from sponsors and entry fees go towards prize monies and referee fees. Other costs such as web hosting, association fees, etc are covered by the members supporting the association. Funds raised for specific events that are not used will go toward the next event and so on.
Advertising
Advertising is permitted at ASSA events and may be included on our website and event documentation providing that its content does not conflict with ASSA policy or harm ASSA reputation.
