One of the most difficult tasks in organising any event is setting the date so that it does not conflict with other events, and the calendars of each state association are sadly lacking.
Each association does try to organise their events early but a lot can be temporary with details to be advised, and many of those dates and their venues can change later.
So having one calendar for all major events and coded by state is invaluable and for that purpose the ASSA provides such a calendar.
The ASSA calendar already includes most events for all states in Australia and those listings are maintained by our management team, mainly as an aid for our state coordinators, but also for anyone looking for snooker events in Australia.
Yes it would help if the associations in each state could maintain their own event notices and they have been invited in the past, but while one can lead a horse to water one cannot make it drink.
It is a FREE service and associations can use a custom calendar to include their own events and affiliates only. The options available are much more sophisticated than anything else available. For example it can be used nationally, per association, per state and even by individual clubs to allow listings for members only events... all on the one custom calendar.

The calendar on this site looks great. I haven't seen anything like it before. It actually lists all open events in all states. It is a pity that the other snooker associations don't use it because the calendar situation at the moment with them is hopeless... some do have calendars online and some don't even have a website. But nowhere else can one see all events at the same time to be able to plan anything.

We provide a calendar for the whole of Australia because we hope to see senior events organised for all states. At least now they can see which open events they could clash with. As for the lack of event information, organising an event calendar for the year is an arduous task and we should be thankful that those clubs and associations can get anything online.
